In April 2012 the first coral nurseries of Bonaire were established at Buddy’s Reef and Klein Bonaire. Since then, Reef Renewal Foundation has made significant growth and has made a huge impact on the recovery of degraded reefs of Bonaire.
Today there are 11 coral nurseries in Bonaire, which host more than 15,000 corals of 75 different coral strains. Since 2013 more than 41,000 corals have been outplanted back to almost 9,000m2 of coral reef.
Buddy Dive Resort is beyond proud to have been involved with the foundation’s hard work from the beginning. The efforts of Reef Renewal Foundation, led by Francesca Virdis and her team, are of great importance for the future of our reefs.
