November 26th 2020, Bonaire, Dutch Caribbean – One year after the passing away of our dear colleague and friend Murphyn Henar, it is time to proudly launch the Murphyn Henar foundation.
On November 26, 2019, we said goodbye to our beloved “Dive Legend” Murphyn Henar, known to most as Murph. Murph worked for Buddy Dive Resort as a divemaster from 1993 until his passing in 2019. He was well known by guests and Bonaire locals, for his ever bright mood, his endless patience, and great knowledge of diving on Bonaire. He left an unforgettable impression on everyone he met. To honor Murphyn and his dedication to diving, we have created The Murphyn Henar foundation. The mission of this foundation is to give young adults from Bonaire the opportunity to learn to dive
and continue their training to become Professional Divemasters. By training these young people, who do not have the funds to do so themselves, we want to create a future for them in the diving industry. Murph’s love for diving and his extraordinary talent for teaching people everything about working as a dive professional on Bonaire is represented in this foundation. By providing this continuous scuba education and training to the underprivileged on Bonaire we will increase their chances of employment in the future, allowing them the opportunity to provide for themselves.
